11/15/2023 0 Comments Budget car rental customer care![]() So I had to find and pay for my own roadside assistance despite being told by budget Calgary airport when the car was picked up that I was covered.No assistance.no help and when i came to turn the car in there was no reimbursement for fob batteries as promised.just a belligerent customer service rep at the counter. With no way to get to a store I was stranded which budget Calgary airport was informed of and still no help. When I called calgary airport budget to get roadside assistance it was refused and I was told to go buy batteries myself and I would be re-imbursed. Without power to the fob the car was non functional. We found this out when we made a stop in the mountains and the fob was completely dead. The car fob was non functional at least once every day as it seemed to have some kind of short circuit and drained the battery completely each day. She also kept pushing upsells for more expensive options.more insurance etc.when she was told no she acted like a spoiled child. The woman at the counter was unhelpful, rude, and acted like she was doing us a favor by renting us the car. Budget calgary airport was 180 degrees opposite. Previous to landing in Calgary I rented a car from Budget Halifax airport who were fantastic. I wish i would have seen these reviews before i went to Calgary last week (Oct 17) If I could give a negative rating I would. Worst experience I have ever had with a car rental company. This has been a nightmare 1 month in the making! They are not interested in customer service, but only getting their money- SO BEWARE! Trust me, even though another competitor would be more expensive- go with another company when in Calgary. Once they charge your credit card, you will never hear from them again. I also called Julie Guinea with Customer Service and again, no response. Henderson NUMEROUS times without a response. Then all of a sudden, they charged my credit card over $700! So they charged my card WITHOUT my authorization and WITHOUT any paperwork on my part. Henderson stated that he would send me some claims paperwork to fill out “by the end of the week.” Three weeks went by and I never received any paperwork to fill out. I asked her how much a new windshield typically is and again, she said, “It would not be more than $300”. A week later I called the claims department again and talked to a woman. On Monday, I called the claims department and emailed Dallas Henderson. We parked the car and dropped the key in the key return box. When we arrived back in Calgary to drop off the car it was very early in the morning, around 5:30am so there were no representatives on site yet. On the very last day of our trip we passed a dump truck in Alberta and a rock flew out of the truck and hit our windshield, causing a chip and crack. Her co-worker, who was a man also said, “We have never charged anyone more than $300 for a new windshield.” After doing the quick calculations in my head and realizing that a new windshield would be cheaper than the insurance, we declined taking that risk. ![]() So you would pay $27.99/day plus a $300 deductible. What they fail to tell you at this point is that the deductible is $300. I asked her how much a new windshield would cost and she said “Not more than $300”. She said the insurance would be $27.99/day and if we did not get it we would be 100% liable for a new windshield. She asked us about purchasing windshield protection for the rental car, which I have never been asked about before from any rental car company, so I thought that was weird because windshield damage is usually covered under the damage waiver. My husband and I arrived at the counter after a long flight and the girl working the desk was very rude. ![]() This is by far the worst rental car location I have ever dealt with. Let me begin my saying that I have rented from Budget Rent a Car numerous times throughout the United States with no problems, so my negative remarks regarding the Calgary Airport location is not representative of the entire company.
